a custom, handmade fairy house may be just the thing you're looking for.

Whether you choose a piece from the gallery, or you wish to have a piece custom designed especially for you, these pieces are a treasure.

*I primarily work with air dry paper clay, but also include other various materials

*With the exception of some artificial flowers and the occasional figurine, I handmake everything

* Each piece includes a light inside and has the option of a music box as well (if the size allows for it)

*I do not sell my pieces directly from my site, but if you are interested in purchasing a piece,

you can contact me personally by using one of the methods listed in my contact information

*I currently do not ship my pieces. I would fear for their safe arrival and they are irreplaceable

*I am located in Coventry, CT, and at this time, it is local interest only, as the pieces need to be picked up

*Each piece is stamped with my artist logo and given their own personal number. There are no two alike

About Me

My name is Nicole Young and I am a self-taught clay artist who works out of my home in Coventry CT. I have always loved art of all media. I have spent most of my adult life making creative things. Whether it was scrapbooking, making my own jewelry, painting old furniture or crocheting. I was always making something. I could never settle on one type of craft because I love them all. I have always had a creative mind and I am detail oriented, so was constantly designing things in my head. I come from a very artistic family. My mother is a talented and established watercolor artist who exhibited her paintings in many local shows and galleries. My brother is a carpenter and an amazing sketch artist, and my sister is very talented in many mediums, including pottery, and redecorating old furniture .

After working as a special education para educator at Coventry high school for 17 years, I left my position to care for my youngest son, who is an adult with Down syndrome, during the COVID pandemic. Once my son was able to return to his day program, I decided to try something new with my time. I have always loved the magic of fairies and the charm of their little houses. So, after seeing pictures of different clay fairy houses, I decided to try my hand at it.

Though I still love to craft in many areas, I have found my passion. While sitting at my worktable, with my two dogs at my feet, I begin the process by sketching a very basic design. Then using recycled materials, I make an armature. Next, I use clay to cover the structure. I primarily work with air dry paper clay, but also incorporate other types of materials, such as real stone, static grass, metals, resin, and organic materials. I love the different textures you get when mixing different things together. I am always excited to see the end result, because the majority of my designing happens while in the process. I let the piece speak to me and the ideas come as I go. I never know what the end result will be. I have been making fairy houses for nearly four years now and there's no end to the possibilities.

My ultimate goal is to mainly create custom fairy houses for other fairy lovers. I truly enjoy the collaboration to create something very special and personal for someone, and they seem to enjoy being part of the design process. The end result is a piece that can be cherished forever.
